CHAPTER NINETY – THE WRONG ROOM
"I can't believe we're actually doing this," Charlotte giggled as they checked their bags. "An impromptu vacation to Cancun."
Julian chuckled, wrapping an arm around her waist. "I told you, sweetheart, a little spontaneity is good for the soul."
They made their way through security, Julian's hand firmly clasped in Charlotte's. As they approached their gate, a frazzled airline employee caught their attention.
"Excuse me, sir, ma'am," she said, her voice strained. "I'm afraid there's been a mix-up with your tickets."
Charlotte's heart sank. "A mix-up? What do you mean?"
The employee grimaced. "It seems your first-class seats have been double-booked. We've had to downgrade you to economy."
Julian's jaw clenched. "Downgrade? But we paid a premium for those first-class tickets."
"I understand, sir," the employee replied, her tone apologetic. "But the flight is overbooked, and we had no choice. We can offer you a travel voucher as compensation."
