Veronica's eyes narrowed as Jasmine outlined her plan. "You cannot be serious, my dear. Infiltrating one of Nancy's clandestine poker soirées? The risk is far too great."
But Jasmine's jaw was set in a mulish line. "It's the perfect opportunity to get close enough to dig up the dirt we need on that wretched woman. You know as well as I that her crowd loves to run their mouths, especially when drinks and fortunes are flowing freely."
"Yes, but to insert yourself into such a den of vipers?" Veronica shook her head, concern creasing her brow. "These games are not merely casual indulgences, Jasmine. They are brutal, high-stakes affairs frequented by the most cutthroat players money can buy."
Jasmine waved a dismissive hand. "I'm not saying I'll be the one risking my life's savings at the tables. Just that I need to be present, blending in, keeping my eyes and ears open for any whispers that might aid our cause."
