CHAPTER SIX HUNDRED AND FORTY ONE – DIG UP MORE INTEL
Jasmine paced the dimly lit study of their Albuquerque mansion, her fingers tracing the edges of the coded messages they'd found in Don Ricardo's belongings. Marco sat at his desk, brow furrowed in concentration as he pored over financial records.
"Anything?" Jasmine asked, hope tingeing her voice.
Marco shook his head, frustration evident in his eyes. "Nothing concrete yet. These offshore accounts are like a labyrinth."
A gentle knock interrupted their contemplation. Antonio entered, a steaming cup of coffee in each hand.
"Thought you two could use a pick-me-up," he said, setting the cups down.
Jasmine smiled gratefully. "Thanks, Antonio. Any word from your tech expert?"
Antonio nodded, pulling up a chair. "She's making progress, but these encryption levels are unlike anything she's seen before. It'll take time."
Marco leaned back, running a hand through his hair. "Time we might not have. Every day that passes, the trail grows colder."
