CHAPTER THREE HUNDRED AND NINETEEN – ANOTHER DAY TO SURVIVE
Jasmine felt a blush creep up her cheeks, thankful for the darkness that hid it. "And what about you, Marco? What do you see?"
There was a moment of charged silence before Marco replied. "I see a strong, talented woman who's been dealt a difficult hand but refuses to fold. I see someone who inspires me to be better, to do better."
Jasmine's heart raced at his words. She opened her mouth to respond, but a yawn escaped instead.
Marco chuckled softly. "We should try to get some sleep. We have a long walk ahead of us tomorrow."
Jasmine nodded, suddenly aware of how exhausted she was. They rearranged their makeshift shelter, creating two small sleeping areas side by side.
As they settled down for the night, Jasmine whispered, "Marco?"
"Yes?"
"Thank you. For everything."
In the darkness, she could hear the smile in his voice as he replied, "Anytime, Jasmine. Sleep well."
