CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTY ONE – AUTUMN SCHOOL
Jasmine stepped out of her car, the crisp autumn air nipping at her cheeks. She took a deep breath, inhaling the scent of fallen leaves and freshly mown grass that permeated the campus of EastSide Art College. Her fingers tightened around the strap of her bag as she made her way towards the main building.
"Jasmine! Welcome back!" Professor Martinez called out, waving from the steps.
Jasmine smiled, quickening her pace. "Maria! It's great to see you."
"How was your summer?" Maria asked, pulling Jasmine into a warm hug.
"Busy, but good. I finished a new series for my upcoming exhibition."
"That's wonderful! We'll have to catch up properly over coffee soon. Are you ready for your first day?"
Jasmine's smile faltered slightly. "As ready as I'll ever be. I've heard... stories about this class."
Maria patted her arm sympathetically. "Don't let the rumors get to you. You're a talented artist and teacher. You'll do fine."
"Thanks, Maria. I hope you're right."
