CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY EIGHT – JASMINE’S FURY
"There they are!" a voice bellowed, cutting through the pandemonium. "Rico's rats, come out to play!"
Gordon reacted with lightning speed, hauling Jasmine and Sebastian behind a towering stack of crates as the first hail of bullets rained down upon them.
"Rico's men," he growled, his jaw clenched with grim determination. "They must have tracked us here."
Sebastian's face drained of color, his eyes haunted. "They'll never let us leave with what I know. We're as good as dead."
Jasmine's heart thundered in her chest as the air filled with the deafening staccato of gunfire, the crates around them splintering and buckling under the relentless barrage.
"Not if I have anything to say about it," she snapped, her fear giving way to a surge of defiant courage.
Snatching a discarded weapon from the ground, she rose to her feet, her movements fueled by sheer adrenaline.
"Jasmine, no!" Gordon shouted, but his words were drowned out by the roar of her return fire.
