Chapter 627 The Scam Syndicate
The morning air was fresh, so I thought I'd take a walk and catch up with Mr. Gray, or Deacon as I called him now, to talk about heading back.
But as soon as I stepped out of the elevator, I spotted a crowd of people who looked like reporters.
Having dealt with enough of these situations back home, my gut told me something was off. Without a second thought, I stepped back into the elevator and hit the button for another floor.
Sure enough, the reporters came charging toward me, but the elevator doors closed just in time.
I hurried back to my room, and as soon as I shut the door, chaos erupted in the hallway.
"Is this the room? Didn't they say she's in the suite 'servicing' the boss?"
"Could be a decoy. Let's head to the top floor!"
"Hurry, security's coming. Split up!"
Their voices overlapped and footsteps scrambled. I couldn't make sense of the situation through the peephole.
