"Rinatta, do you know something? Have you figured it out? Mackenzie is shady, right? I knew it!" Astrid's voice was laced with urgency. I thought for a moment before explaining my suspicions. Mackenzie was clearly planted at the Erewhon office. She wasn't particularly bright, but she had fooled plenty of people. She tried to leverage Mr. Gray's connections and was now cozying up to other business partners. Her goals were becoming obvious. She wanted Astrid's identity to solidify her claim as the McLennon heiress. She wanted access to McLennon Group's resources and to build relationships with their partners. Most importantly, she wanted the Erewhon branch's money. A multimillion-dollar investment meant she could pocket a significant cut.
