Chapter 111 The Tables Turn
I stared at her, completely puzzled.
Why would she threaten to drag us both down? I wasn't afraid because I was a woman with a potentially fatal illness, after all. But what was her motive?
Leonard had clearly been fond of her before. If their relationship had stayed strong, she could've easily become Mrs. Harmon without much effort.
All she had to do was wait, and I would've been out of the picture eventually. Yet, she chose the most self-destructive, obnoxious path, one that guaranteed no way out.
As soon as she walked out of the police station, she abruptly turned and dropped to her knees in front of me. The suddenness of it startled me, and I instinctively stepped back several paces.
"Eva, I know you hate me, but you didn't have to kill my baby!
"Mr. Harmon and I were truly in love. Why did you have to take our child away?
"You cling to him, fine, but why go after my baby? You can't have children yourself, so you won't let me have one either?"
