Shelmaine admitted, "Yes."

Samuel grew agitated. "You keep bringing up divorce. In your eyes, am I so untrustworthy?"
"Maybe it's from the psychological scars," she replied calmly.
He was momentarily speechless. Her words left him in silence.
Taking a deep breath, Samuel muttered, "I know I was wrong before. I have nothing to argue about." He looked at her intently, continuing, "But Shelly, I love you. I just want to spend my life with you, raising Tammy together. That's the truth. I'm not lying to you. I don't want a divorce, and I won't agree to one. Never."
"I've told you before, if there's someone else in your heart, you can just let me know," Shelmaine reminded him.
"There's no one else. The only person in my heart is you," Samuel insisted.
