After dealing with Andrew, she rubbed her temples as her head throbbed intensely.
"Shelmaine, are you alright?" Dora asked.
Shelmaine shook her head. "I'm fine. Were you scared?"
"No, I'm okay." Dora was, in fact, still a little shaken. She continued, "Shelmaine, was that really your father? Why did he treat you like an enemy…"
It did seem like Andrew had treated her like an enemy.
Shelmaine didn't respond.
"I'm sorry, Shelmaine. I didn't mean to say that. I was just..." Dora stammered.
"I'm not angry. Don't worry. Besides, what you said was right. It's true."
Shelmaine and Andrew had never been able to have a decent conversation. She was as irritated with him as he was with her.
Before Dora could say anything more, Shelmaine's face turned pale. "Help me call a cab. I need to go to the hospital," she said.
Shelmaine felt discomfort in her abdomen and needed medical attention.
Dora didn't delay and quickly called for a cab.
Before long, Shelmaine fainted and lost consciousn
