"But I can't offer you marriage."
Samuel's next words felt like a plunge off a cliff for Natasha. She stared at him in disbelief. "W-Why? But Sammy, you promised Peter..."
"I promised him I'd take care of you and nothing else."
"Why did you get a divorce then?"
Natasha couldn't believe it. She had never expected Samuel to say that.
After all, his family had agreed, and he had divorced Shelmaine too. And wasn't the divorce for her sake? Why was he saying that now?
"That's enough. I'll have Brody take you home." Samuel didn't answer her question and stood up to leave.
Natasha panicked and called out, "Sammy..."
