I froze. Before I could pull my hand away from Luna's, she'd already led me into the Norton residence's courtyard.
I saw Samuel's face darken out of the corner of my eye. Even though his jealousy was obvious, he had no choice but to stick with us as a colleague. He hated seeing Luna and me together, and it pissed him off even more when we showed up in public as a married couple.
The lord of the house was by the pond, feeding his goldfish. He looked up and saw me.
"Edward," he called out, his voice full of warmth. "I've been waiting for you."
That was when I realized the man before me, with his gold-rimmed glasses, looked oddly familiar.
"Mr. Norton?" I blurted out.
Despite the years, he still had the same elegance and calm about him.
"It's been a long time, Edward. You've grown into quite the man," Mr. Norton said with a friendly smile, motioning for the maid to bring us chairs.
