As the plan took form in my head, the thought of getting close to Luna did not affront me as much. I sat closer to her and opened the bottle of wine before her, pouring her first drink of the evening.
"Now that you're here, Ms. Sherwood, why don't you tell me what kind of fun you're up for tonight?"
Luna twirled a strand of her hair around her finger and appraised me carefully. Perhaps she had sensed the change in my attitude.
"Suddenly you're up for some fun? I wouldn't want you to think about your little wife back home while you're with me," she drawled with her chin raised, looking like a monarch.
I flashed her a sheepish smile. "I've always been able to keep my personal life and work separate."
Taking a sip of the wine I poured her, Luna remarked, "I've always thought men who work in these nightclubs are trouble. I was wondering why you told me you were married. Weren't you worried that you might lose out on tips?"
"Because I didn't want to lie," I said. It was the truth.
