The mask was dangerous—that much I could conclude. I might have been able to dissuade Luna from acting on her curiosity, but I doubted I could charm Samuel into leaving my identity alone.
"Sir, please respect us while we're on the job. If you want to see me without a mask, feel free to swing by the club tomorrow," I said curtly, hoping my excuse was enough to keep Samuel from pressing further.
However, he was not so easily deterred. He beckoned his friends over, hollering, "Come here and pin him down, guys! I want to take a look at what lies behind that mask!"
Two of his friends came over and wordlessly pinned me to the glass tabletop. They even gripped my wrists for good measure.
My condition had rid me of any strength to fight back, especially against two burly men.
Desiree spotted my predicament and hurried over. "Gentlemen, let's use our words. There's no need to get violent."
