"I see." Clarissa nodded thoughtfully. "Tell me, in your own words, what do you want to feel like on your wedding day?"
Mara paused, considering the question. "I want to feel... elegant, but not overdone. Beautiful, but still like myself. I want to be comfortable enough to dance and laugh and eat. And I want Cassius to look at me and see the woman he fell in love with, not some bridal magazine fantasy."
Clarissa listened intently, her eyes sparkling with understanding. "I think I have an idea. Brittany, do you mind if I take a look in the back?"
Brittany looked surprised but nodded. "Of course."
As Clarissa disappeared into the stockroom, Aunt Beatrice leaned in to whisper, "Since when does the sister-in-law help pick out the dress? In my day, that would have been considered quite presumptuous."
Jenna rolled her eyes. "In your day, they probably still used carrier pigeons for wedding invitations."
"Girls," Mara warned, not in the mood for another argument.
