"There's my girl!" Aunt Sarah exclaimed. "Oh, sweetheart, I'm so happy for you. Your parents would be over the moon if they could see you now."
Mara felt a pang in her chest at the mention of her parents. "I wish they were here, Aunt Sarah. I miss them so much."
Her aunt's expression softened. "I know, dear. They'd be so proud of you, though. Look at all you've accomplished!"
Mara nodded, blinking back tears. "Thanks, Aunt Sarah. I just... I keep thinking about how Dad would have walked me down the aisle, and Mom would have helped me pick out my dress."
"Oh, honey," Aunt Sarah's voice was thick with emotion. "They're with you in spirit, you know that. And I'll be there every step of the way. Now, tell me all about this fiancé of yours. He treats you well, I hope?"
Mara couldn't help but smile. "Cassius is wonderful, Aunt Sarah. He's kind, and thoughtful, and he makes me laugh."
