She pulled out another file. "I found evidence of at least three other families he's done this to in the past decade. Each time, he stayed long enough to siphon off significant assets before disappearing."
Cassius slumped back in his chair, looking utterly defeated. "All this time... I thought... I believed..."
Mara's heart ached for him. Despite all of Cassius' flaws, she knew how much family meant to him. This betrayal must be devastating.
"I'm so sorry, Cassius," she said softly. "I know this must be incredibly difficult to process."
He nodded numbly, then seemed to shake himself out of his stupor. "What do we do now? We can't let him continue to operate within the company, but if we expose him..."
Mara nodded, understanding the dilemma. "If we reveal the truth publicly, it could damage the company's reputation. People will question how we could have been fooled for so long. Not to mention the impact on our relationships with the Noble family and other business partners."
