Cynthia's thoughts spiraled. "Zachary's perfect—absolutely perfect. A rare masterpiece among men!"
She quickly shook her head, disgusted with herself. What was she doing, ogling an injured man? And it was Janice's fiancé, no less!
Snapping out of it, she rushed to the bathroom and returned moments later with a basin of warm water.
"Don't move. You might aggravate the wound. Let me clean it for you," Cynthia said, kneeling beside him and setting the basin down. She wrung out a towel and gently began wiping his leg.
Years of caring for Yasmine, from bath times to scraped knees, had made her movements practiced and efficient. Yet as the blood was wiped away, the raw, jagged wound came into view. It was deep enough to make her heart ache.
Her touch became feather-light. She was careful not to hurt him.
