Night had fallen when we touched down at the Yubai International Airport.
A liveried chauffeur picked us up and drove us to the sail-shaped hotel.
I was so jet-lagged, I hit the sack without taking in the view.
I didn’t wake up till noon the next day.
I sat up in bed and took in the room.
It was a two-storey deluxe one-bedroom suite.
The décor was striking, with gold leaf accents and a colour palette of blue, red and yellow.
I pulled open the drapes and was treated to a stunning view of a crystal clear sea.
I was too busy luxuriating in the beauty of the place to have time to wallow in self-pity.
‘Good morning.’ Kieran padded out of the bathroom wearing just a towel. ‘Go get washed up. We’ll have brunch, then go down for a photoshoot.’
‘What photoshoot?’
‘For the wedding, of course.’
‘You really pulled out all the stops.’
He shrugged. ‘I have to make it convincing for the lawyer.’
‘Would the lawyer really demand to see wedding photos?’
