Nate & Nessa: New Recruit

Confused and desperate for clues, Nathaniel wandered aimlessly around the school grounds until he found himself at the outdoor basketball court. Memories flooded back as he looked at the court where they had spent so much time together. She would sit on the bench, holding his jacket, cheering him on as he dribbled the ball. He walked over and sat down on the bench. A gust of wind swept by, and a tinkling sound reached his ears. He turned to see a Van Cleef & Arpels black necklace hanging on the back of the bench. It was the necklace he had bought for Nessa with money he’d earned. She had always worn it since the day he gave it to her. Taking the necklace down, he noticed a line of words carved by knife into the back of the wooden bench—‘I’m going to forget about you.’ Nathaniel ran his hand over the words, recognising Nessa’s handwriting. Could she truly forget him? If she did, what about him? No, he couldn’t accept that. He had to find her, no matter where she had gone. Clutching the
