The Funeral
Landon continued after he got my attention, ‘Their company has hit a rough patch. Something to do with cash flow. The V Group’s battling a hostile takeover. Word on the street is, James Valentine could lose the company.’
‘Claire never told me any of this,’ I muttered.
‘Maybe she doesn’t know, or she doesn’t want you to worry. James is suffering from poor health. Tristan has started working at the V Group, but it’s not enough.’
A sense of guilt suddenly overwhelmed me.
I had been so wrapped up in my own world, I turned a blind eye to everything else.
I had no idea Kieran’s family was in trouble.
‘They still haven’t held a memorial service for Kieran,’ Landon said with a sigh. ‘They’ve been postponing the funeral till… But it’s time, Amiyah. Kieran’s family needs closure. So do you.’
I felt a lump in the back of my throat.
Landon squatted down in front of me, looking me in the eye. ‘Would you please come home with me?’
