Shannon stared back at me, gasping for breath.
Blood was pooling underneath her head.
‘Amiyah, I’m your grandmother. Why are you trying to kill me?’
Her voice seemed to come from underwater.
My mind was numb.
I stood rooted to the spot, unable to move, unable to think.
A small crowd soon gathered.
An ambulance shot out of the hospital right behind me.

I knew I was innocent, so I wasn’t afraid of being investigated.
