CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY ONE - THE HEIR'S FATE
They crept towards the warehouse, using the shadows as cover. Rebecca's heart raced as they approached the first set of guards. She watched, a mixture of horror and awe coursing through her, as Luca's men took them down swiftly and silently.
Inside the warehouse, the air was heavy with the scent of dust and rusted metal. Rebecca stayed close to Luca as they navigated through a maze of crates and machinery. Every sound – the creak of a floorboard, the distant murmur of voices – sent a jolt of fear through her.
They encountered their first real obstacle at a locked door. As one of Luca's men worked to pick the lock, Rebecca heard footsteps approaching from the other side. She tugged on Luca's sleeve, gesturing urgently.
Luca reacted instantly, pulling Rebecca behind a stack of crates just as the door swung open. Two armed men walked past, engaged in quiet conversation. Rebecca held her breath, acutely aware of how close they had come to discovery.
