Chapter 117: Voices Of Light
The cavern thrummed with an unsettling power. The monstrous voice of The Corruption echoed through the chamber, a chilling reminder of the immensity of the threat they faced. Louis and Amelia stood before the deactivated harmonic disruptor, its blue glow a fading ember against the encroaching darkness.
The Aethel warriors, their armor battered and energy reserves depleted, rallied around them.
The golden-eyed leader, her face etched with exhaustion and determination, placed a hand on Amelia's shoulder.
"You have weakened The Corruption," she said, her voice raspy.
"But it is not defeated. It will return, stronger and more furious."
Louis clenched his fist, frustration gnawing at him.
They had achieved so much, only to be left with the bitter taste of an incomplete victory. A thought struck him.
"What about the other Aethel? Can't they help?"
The warrior shook her head. "Many are corrupted themselves, their essence tainted by The Corruption's touch.
