Chapter 24: Ruining You
"I'm here to see Dad," Elise declared, her chin lifted in a display of pride, as if to say, "I'm the legitimate Madam of The Ashford."
Ivy found the whole act rather embarrassing.
"What a coincidence, I'm here to see him too," Ivy said, standing up. She had planned to head straight to the meeting room to find Tristan; bumping into Elise had been an unwelcome delay.
She had no intention of wasting more words on someone like Elise, who seemed to rely solely on her looks to get ahead.
"Where are you going?" Elise, for once, reacted quickly, blocking Ivy's path.
"What does it matter to you?" Ivy glared at Elise, sidestepped her hold, and left the office for the meeting room.
Inside, Tristan was leading the discussion with authority. Ivy paused at the door, peering through the glass at Tristan, a cold smirk crossing her lips, "I wonder if they'd still listen so calmly to your nonsense once they know the true state of the company."
"Mr. Ashford, who's that at the door?" someone inside
