"Summer, when did you become so unreasonable? Do you really think threatening me with divorce will make up for the damage caused by your reckless absence? If you need money, then earn it the right way. The company isn't your playground," Calvin snapped.
His grip loosened instinctively, but his brow remained furrowed as he looked at me. It was as if I were the one being unreasonable.
I struggled to make sense of his words. It felt as if he'd forgotten that I was his wife, which naturally meant I had a stake in the company, too. But I didn't want to argue.
Instead, I shrugged and said, "I never knew I was so indispensable. So, how did Pierce Group manage without me all this time? Since I'm so important, my salary should be higher. I'm clearly being shortchanged."
