Calvin agreed to let me file for work injury compensation, and I had no intention of cutting him any slack on that. I had my own reasons this time.
Something about the way Calvin looked at me today felt different. It was almost like a flashback to old times.
That night, I arranged all the receipts and sent them straight to the finance department. It took Jean Barrymore a full half hour to respond to my WhatsApp message.
"Is this your medical record? Did Mr. Pierce agree to cover the expenses?"
"Yes. I'll see you tomorrow," I texted back.
I could already picture the finance department's shock since no one at the company knew about my illness.
