I'd been living here for about five or six years, and Agnes had always been a friendly neighbor. I never expected them to move out.
Agnes smiled warmly. "Yep, we're moving to another place. Someone's interested in renting this apartment, and they offered a really good price. She's a nice young lady, so we agreed."
"A young lady?" I asked.
Agnes grinned, clearly pleased with herself. "Haha, I know your girlfriend is very pretty, Bryce, but let me tell you, this new girl—she might just give your girlfriend a run for her money."
"Oh, really."
Having a pretty new neighbor might have sounded nice under different circumstances, but right now, I just couldn't bring myself to care.
