CHAPTER 88: BURNING UP

I was awoken by a firm shake, and I could immediately feel the pounding headache before I groggily opened my eyes.
"Oh, thank goodness!" I heard Julia mutter with a sigh as I tried to focus my blurry gaze. "I've been trying to wake you up! You're running a fever."
"What?" The word came out like a drawl, and my mouth felt dry and bitter.
"No!" she yelled when I began to push myself up. "You need to lay down while I get you a glass of water. After that, I'm driving you to the hospital."
I didn't even argue. I felt like crap, and I'd let her take me anywhere if it meant the pain would go away.
When she returned to the room and raised my head slightly so I could drink the water, I shot her an appreciative look.
"Come on," she muttered, placing the glass on the nightstand before crossing her arms around my waist to help me up.
"What happened?" I slurred as we slowly made our way to the door.
"I think your wounds are infected," she answered. "Hopefully, we can make it down th
