CHAPTER 69: FIGHTING OFF EMOTIONS

I had just gotten back to my office after my meeting with Ray. I found a spot to park my car in the parking lot as I drove in. I quickly moved over to my office, ready to get on with the daily work of the day. I sat at my office table while I looked over the piles of work left for me to do.
While I sorted out the files, a picture of Marie dropped off from one of the papers. Apparently, I had no idea the picture was still there. It was a picture taken on our first date. I remember insisting she took the picture as she didn't oblige.
I leaned onto my sofa chair, moving over it as I glanced over the picture. Her sharp edges were clearly cut out, and her oval face glimmered in the bright sun.
It had been up to three months since I last set my eyes on Marie. What would she be doing today? Would she be doing some food experiments? Or would she be listening to music? I wish I could find a way to teleport to wherever she was; I needed to know what she was doing. The time on the cloc
