The drive back from the resort was anything but leisurely. Julie had been relentless, making moves whenever she could. I could feel her eyes on me, her subtle touches, the too-close-for-comfort conversations. It was draining. Entertaining Julie's advances was the last thing on my mind.
As we neared the city, Julie finally broke the silence between us. "Damian," she began, her voice soft, almost coaxing. "You've been so quiet this whole trip. Is everything okay?"
I kept my eyes on the road, wanting to avoid engaging in this conversation. "Just tired, Julie. It's been a long week."
She shifted in her seat, leaning a little closer. "I could help you relax, you know. You don't have to carry all that stress by yourself."
I glanced at her briefly, catching the suggestive smile on her lips. "Julie, I appreciate the concern, but I'm fine. Really."
