The coffee machine chimed, and I served myself a black coffee. I'd slept through the night and didn't even know when Ray finally left, but it didn't matter. His Appearance at my home yesterday helped me to some extent.
I sipped the hot coffee with relish even though I had no intentions of leaving the house that day. I just hoped to be alone with my thoughts.
The doorbell rang, and I smacked my hands on the kitchen table. "I need to be alone." I groaned, setting down the ceramic mug. Only one person could show up at my doorstep at that time of the day. Sure enough, Ray was standing on the porch when I opened the door. He had a colorful grin, while I had a slight frown.
"What sup, bro!" He stretched his hands for a handshake, and I took it.
"What are you doing here so early? You did not tell me yesterday that you would be here." I raised an eyebrow.
