"Say your last words to Amelia," Charles commanded, his voice cold and sharp. "This will be the last time you ever see your daughter."
Damian clenched his fists, his chest heaving with barely contained rage. I could see the fury simmering beneath the surface, and I knew he was moments away from launching himself at Charles.
"You will regret the day you crossed me, Charles," Damian spat, trembling angrily.
Charles chuckled, dismissive. "I regret nothing, Damian. You took what was mine, and now, I'm simply returning the favor."
He lifted the sleeping Amelia, cradling her with false tenderness. "She's beautiful, just like her mother."
It was a deliberate provocation meant to push Damian over the edge. I stepped in quickly before the situation escalated further.
"Charles, that's enough," I said firmly. "You've won. There's no need to twist the knife."
