CHAPTER 16: WHEN LOVE FADES

A hollow, empty feeling nearly choked me when I woke up. I felt as though my depression burdened me, and I was unable to overcome it. Each motion seemed laborious, each idea an inconvenience. The whole world was whirling, and it seemed I was the only one in it, tossed to and fro. I had felt so tired for days; the previous days had been overwhelming, and the thought of what the coming days held weighed me down.
I remembered the day I met Damian, the charming man everyone wanted. His aura engulfed me, and I couldn't say no when he proposed. It had been years of endurance and love. I knew nobody could do as he did, but it seemed to me that I was wrong. I was lost in love and couldn't be found.
My thoughts about Damian were spooky to myself; their sight was clouded. My head spun as I lay in bed and looked up at the ceiling.
I wondered what had made him change.
"What changed him?" I heard myself whisper the question.
