"Sophia, listen carefully. There's someone on your tail." I kept my voice low, barely audible, as I clutched the burner phone like it was the only tether to reality I had left. My throat tightened, and I swallowed hard, my pulse quickening. I didn't tell her who it was—didn't tell her it was Marie. That detail she didn't need to know. Not yet.
"Meet Ray at the usual spot. Tomorrow night. He'll have everything you need." My voice sounded rough, even to my ears, as I gripped the phone tighter. "Brazil. That's where you're going."
"Who's following me?" Her voice wavered on the other end, a mix of panic and confusion. "Damian, you need to tell me."
