Perseus needed to let Rochelle know that she wasn't deserving of him.
"Alright. Good night." Camilla's prompt reply brought a smile to Perseus' lips as he envisioned a bright future with her, filled with happiness and love.
For the first time, he felt a strong desire to build a home and bring joy to a woman.
"Hasn't it been ten minutes already?" Faith's weak voice interrupted his thoughts from the bedroom.
"Hold on," Perseus responded, taking a moment to calm himself with a gulp of cold water before returning to the bedroom.
Faith was panting on the bed. Her initial flush had receded, replaced by a concerning pallor. Her grip on the sheets had tightened. She looked pitiful.
"Endure it a little longer. I'll remove the needle now," Perseus reassured her, taking a deep breath to steady himself. Gently, he grasped the end of the needle and slowly withdrew it.
