Perseus gave Nancy a look before quickly averting his eyes. "You're beautiful."
His embarrassment was evident as he avoided holding her gaze for too long. From the corner of his eye, he could see the curve of her fair neck and the subtle rise and fall of her chest as she breathed.
Nancy's expression softened, and a smile tugged at her lips, barely concealing her excitement. "Could you tell me which part of me is beautiful? Be detailed."
Perseus froze, caught off guard. Words failed him.
While intelligent, his expertise lay in medicine, not in flowery prose. How could he summon the vocabulary to describe a woman's beauty eloquently? Writing classes had never been his strong suit. It would sound superficial and insincere if he only mentioned her fair skin or slender legs.
Nancy's smile faltered, her face clouding over. She bit her lip, disappointment creeping into her voice. "Why aren't you saying anything? Did you say that just to pacify me?"
