Lily asked, "What did the doctor say?" She'd always be the one taking the blame if she was even remotely involved. She was used to it by now, and she didn't waste time arguing.
Hazel's sobs grew louder. "The doctor said his condition is very serious. There's a chance he could harm himself, and even with treatment… it'll take at least six months before we might see any improvement."
"Is he the best doctor?"
Lily knelt beside her and asked, "Are there any better doctors abroad?"
Hazel wiped her tears and looked at her. They stared at each other, both with tear-streaked faces. Then, Hazel suddenly pulled her into a tight hug as her sobs grew louder.
"This was your father's only connection. He's the best doctor we could afford in the country, and even then, it's almost beyond what we can pay, not to mention those doctors overseas."
