Chapter 52
"If that's your so-called justification, you can come with me right now to the hospital and kneel before my mother to apologize," Victoria said bluntly, her tone sharp and unwavering.
Wayne set down his glass and slowly stood up.
For a brief moment, she thought he might actually go with her.
But in the next second, his entire demeanor shifted. The somber, regretful act disappeared, replaced by a cold and vicious expression.
"You think she's worthy of me kneeling to her?" Wayne took a step closer, his expression dark with contempt. "Don't forget. If I hadn't left you and your mother in Jonridge, you never would've crossed paths with someone like Leon."
At those words, Victoria immediately realized that he hadn't contacted her to apologize.
"You should be grateful," he continued, growing more agitated. "I gave you the life of a wealthy wife."
Victoria scoffed, her last shred of familial attachment vanishing completely. "I really don't know how Mom ever fell for someone like you."
