CHAPTER 27 AMBUSHED

"You need to calm down, Miss Anderson," a voice said, the tone authoritative and commanding. Madison could hear the key turning in the lock, the sound like a distant, thunderous explosion. The door swung open, and the officers flooded into the room, their guns drawn and their faces filled with concern. "Are you alright?" one of the officers asked, his eyes scanning the room for signs of danger. Madison pointed a shaking finger at the dark corner, where the figure had been standing. But the room was empty, the shadows empty and devoid of any presence. The officers rushed toward Madison, their hands reaching for her arms and shoulders. "What are you doing?" Madison protested, struggling against their grip. "Let me go! I saw someone, I swear." But the officers were insistent, their faces grave and serious. "You're in shock, Miss Anderson," one of them said. "You need to relax." As they led her to the bed, Madison continued to struggle, her eyes darting around the room, searching
