Lily and Alexander flew through the Banquet of stars in their souls, still having some primal echo of the Crucible of Celestial Desire and this soft music led them to the new place. This was a rather sad melody, the faint notes barely audible at first, but gradually increasing in volume as they neared the person playing it. “Can you hear that, Alex?” Lily’s thoughts echoed in their mental connection, and there was amazement as much as inquiry in her voice. Alexander’s presence reacted back, his vitality blending with hers. “Yes, love, it feels like the stars themselves are humming to us.” Following the tunes and rhythms they floated across universes and planes till they reached the realm of a silvery glowing cloud. It was here that the melody swelled to a climax and, as they crossed the threshold into the next sector, over a gossamer curtain of stardust, they found a place that bore no obvious resemblance to their own world. And they found themselves at the lowest level of an e
