Chapter 30

The anniversary of Mom's death came around again. Felix and I flew over to Camden City to visit her grave. I had decided to leave her remains where they were after Dad's stroke. On her headstone, her photograph smiled at me, just like she used to do when she was still alive. I placed a bouquet of flowers in front of the headstone and chatted with her about everything that had happened in the past few months. I only left reluctantly when dusk fell. On the way out of the cemetery, I met Brandon. He looked haggard and downcast. I had heard that the Price family had completely given up on him. After all, an alcoholic who had a habit of gambling was of no use to them. "Reegan," he said while staring at me hungrily. He took a few steps forward before stopping like he had thought of something. "How can I help you, Mr. Price?" I gazed back at him indifferently. Deep down, I couldn't help but pity him. I could still remember how he used to be proud and so full of life. In the past,
