To my surprise, Brandon turned up at the Fullman estate again two weeks later, asking for me. I was pruning the rose bushes with Felix at the time. When Tom delivered the news of his visit, I thought I had misheard him. "You're saying that Brandon came here all alone to see me?" I asked in disbelief. "Yes, Mrs. Fullman. He's waiting outside," Tom replied. "He also brought some gifts for you." I frowned, annoyed. The Fullman family was powerful and distinguished. Even Brandon's parents had to be deferential when speaking to Felix. Where did Brandon get the audacity to show up here demanding to see me when I was now rightfully Felix's wife?
