Chapter 40: What Were You Doing in My Car?
The underground bar was tucked away in a forsaken corner of the city, surrounded by abandoned construction sites.
Vivian had barely gone fifty yards in her car when a thunderous crash jolted her vehicle forward.
A second car appeared out of nowhere, making a beeline for her front bumper.
Caught between a rock and a hard place, Vivian realized she was a marked woman due to that pesky badge she was carrying.
Never one to back down, Vivian raced her engine, expertly maneuvering her vehicle to dodge the incoming car.
But the car from behind was relentless.
They were brazen only because of the desolation around, she thought. They would lose their nerve once she hit the main road.
Vivian hadn't anticipated the hail of bullets that hit her car just as she was about to shake them off.
A bullet burst her tire, causing her car to veer and flip onto its side.
With her car incapacitated, she clambered out of the driver's seat. She had a foldable electric scooter stowed away in her trunk.
