The early morning sunlight filtered through the large windows of the Montgomery mansion's breakfast room, casting a warm glow on the elegant table setting. Ella, still in her robe, gently bounced six-month-old Sophia on her knee while attempting to sip her coffee.
"There you go, sweetheart," Ella cooed, offering a spoonful of pureed fruit to Sophia. The baby gurgled happily, more interested in grabbing the spoon than eating.
Lucas entered the room, his crisp suit a stark contrast to Ella's casual attire. He planted a quick kiss on Ella's cheek before settling into his chair.
"Good morning, my loves," he said, his voice warm but tinged with fatigue.
Ella studied her husband's face. "Late night at the office again?"
Lucas nodded, reaching for the newspaper. "The new branch is keeping me busier than expected."
As he unfolded the paper, a maid approached with a silver tray. "Your mail, Mr. Montgomery."
"Thank you, Marie," Lucas said, taking the stack of envelopes.
