CHAPTER 69: CHILDHOOD MEMORIES
Lauretta couldn't stand the way her friends were staring at her anymore. She carefully placed the large giftboxesx on the table and then turned to address them with a serious expression.
"Could you please stop giving me those looks? Whatever's happening, it's not my doing. I wouldn't be involved in something like that," she objected.
What a laugh! Just when Lauretta had finally rid herself of one man, now she was expected to get entangled with another. She treasured her independence, managing her business, and earning her income. Why in the world would she want to complicate her life with another man? She wasn't foolish.
Plus, even if she did desire to explore a new relationship, she was certain her family, especially Brandon, wouldn't approve for now. Brandon was still seething about her previous marriage; if she dared to pursue another relationship, he'd likely explode with anger. He wanted her to get herself together and build herself for now and not run into another relationship
