CHAPTER 387: THE TEST RESULTS
The stethoscope pressed cool against Cameron's chest as Dr. Evans listened intently. With a gentle touch, he pried open one of Cameron's eyelids, his brow furrowing as he examined the sluggish pupils and comprehensive cornea. After a series of checks, Dr. Evans, a man in his mid-forties with a twinkle in his nose, finally straightened up. His glasses, perched precariously on his bridge, tilted precariously as he reached up to adjust them with a fingertip. Dressed casually today, he still wore a mask and gloves from his examination.
Cameron, who'd made a few soft, mumbling sounds throughout the exam, had drifted peacefully off to sleep. Ryan cast a worried glance at his son, a silent promise to be strong hanging in the air, before following Dr. Evans out.
The doctor's office was a typical New York affair. Crowded with papers and filled with the sterile scent of disinfectant, it had a well-worn desk and uncomfortable chairs that seemed to have seen countless worried patients. Dr. Evans
