The rain was still pouring.
Through the glass windows, they could see the people outside—those seeking shelter from the downpour remained where they were, unmoving. Inside the steakhouse, life went on as usual.
Laughter rose from one table where people were drinking, while at another, an argument persisted. A nearby woman continued coaxing the crying child in her arms as if nothing had changed.
Everything appeared normal. Yet, at Elara's table, only they seemed out of place—pale, shaken, each of them reeling in their own way.
Elara picked up her phone. The time hadn't changed. Despite what felt like an eternity spent in that other world, barely a moment had passed here.
They began to compare their experiences. Almost everyone had been fleeing from some unknown entity in that horrifying place.
A waiter arrived just then to serve their dishes.
