Chapter 911 Extortion
The line went quiet for a second before a low, controlled voice broke the silence. "All wrapped up for the day?"
"Yeah!" The Scott Corporation building was empty, and I was heading to the parking garage with my bag in hand.
"Be careful when driving." His voice came through the phone, warm and full of concern.
"Will do," I replied, about to ask him what he was in the mood to eat tonight. Before I could, however, I spotted a shabby-looking middle-aged guy leaning against my car. He was giving me the creeps with his stare.
"I'll call you back soon," I told him and ended the call. Scanning the area, I found no security and no one else around. A shiver ran down my spine. Should I walk over there or not?
"Ms. Scott, it's been ages," he called out with a heavy accent while waving me over.
I hesitated and then mustered my courage to approach him. The guy was gaunt, with a sallow complexion and narrow eyes that twinkled with a sleazy kind of amusement.
It sounded like he knew me.
